If you are an Orthodox Christian or a catechumen or if you are a God-seeker who is exploring Orthodoxy, you are welcome to join us at any Agape Circle Zoom meeting. Ideally, come at the beginning and stay  90 mins to the end. If you can only come for a portion, that’s ok. We welcome your presence. You will experience the “DiaLogos” of Agape Circle, a unique method of group discussion designed with Orthodox Christian principles in mind.

By participating in a Zoom series you will begin to learn how to facilitate an Agape Circle of your own — in-person, face-to-face — in your area, if you feel so called.
Kindly spread the word to other Orthodox Christians to benefit from Christ-centered fellowship for growth in faith, hope and agape love as the Lord wills.

Do you desire deeper connections with other Orthodox Christians?

And help others grow, too?

Many people want more meaningful connection. Agape Circle contributes to that end. Come and see. Attend an AC Zoom series and improve your listening skills while opening your heart to fellow human beings who also want to grow in Christ. You will gradually learn how to lead an Agape Circle meeting. Then, with your priest’s blessing,  invite one or more people to meet weekly with you in person during the Series that works for you. Let’s create more face-to-face, Christ-centered fellowship.

Do you want to follow Christ in the way of Agape Love?

We support one another in walking the Orthodox Christian way of Agape

The Orthodox Way is the way of Christ, the way of agape love. It is a blessed path. At times, it can also  be a hard road.

Jesus said:

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

In Agape Circle, we help each other deny ourself, take up our Cross and follow Him.

Do you wish to have more inner peace?

Jesus Christ, the Lord of all, is the Prince of peace. He does not impose Himself on anyone. He invites us to come to Him for spiritual rest.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Christ gives peace and rest to our souls and He asks us to keep His word:  “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him…. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you…. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

What is an Agape Circle?

Where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.
– Jesus the Christ (Matthew 18:20)

An Agape Circle is a small group of 2 or more Orthodox Christians (or catechumens) who meet in person weekly for a number of weeks (2 to 6 weeks, depending on the Series). Each season’s series is set up to strengthen interpersonal connection, inspire love for God and for one another, and energize our service to others in need. Every human being is loved by Christ and worthy of Christ’s love through us.

“Suppose there is a circle on the earth, as if drawn by a compass.… Let’s suppose that this circle is the world and God is the center. The straight lines drawn from the circumference to the center are the lives of men…. The saints, desiring to approach God, move inward.… As far as they approach God, they approach each other. As far as they approach each other, they approach God… As far as they move away and become distant from God, they distance themselves from each other. As they distance themselves from each other, they distance themselves from God. This is the very nature of love.”
                       – Abba Dorotheos of Gaza (6th c.)

The Agape Circle Initiative

WHAT IS THE AGAPE CIRCLE INITIATIVE?

The Agape Circle Initiative aspires to become an incorporated 501c3 nonprofit organization. The Initiative produces content for Agape Circle Courses, online content, training workshops, retreats, parish presentations, podcast interviews, youtube channel interviews, social media and other media outreach. Through these activities, the Agape Circle Initiative for Orthodox Christians seeks to foster spiritual fellowship and personal spiritual growth in love for God and others, in keeping with the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ as expressed, for example, in 1 John 4:7: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”

Christ’s New Commandment of Agape

A new commandment I give to you,

that you love one another,

even as I have loved you,

that you also love one another.

– The Lord Jesus Christ (John 13:35)

“Christ has risen from the dead

trampling down death by death

and upon those in the tombs

bestowing Life”

“‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Mt 32:37-40)
